Your parents sound kind of supportive; well, at least not completely appalled by the idea of fasting, as mine probably would be if I told them I eat pretty much just one meal a day. And they also notice your losing inches, although you may not notice I think it's good to get reassurance from others that some progress is being made, even if it's small and still far away from the end goal. It's steps in the right direction, still.
How long are you planning this current fast to last?Your parents sound kind of supportive; well, at least not completely appalled by the idea of fasting, as mine probably would be if I told them I eat pretty much just one meal a day. And they also noti...See more
My dad is the person who introduced me to fasting. I was 15 and suffering from a PCOS mega weight gain, and he'd been battling with weight issues ever since one of his disks snapped, so we went together to a workshop that encouraged fasting to lose weight.
I want to do 7 days minimum, and then take it day by day. Ideally, I'd be uber happy to hit 40 or 60 days, but I keep in mind that my longest ever had been 22 days and I'm trying to take care of myself rather than break goals for my ego.My dad is the person who introduced me to fasting. Wow, so you've been onto fasting for quite long! That's impressive. My longest fast ever was 7 days a few years back but I found I couldn't fit extended fasting with my day-to-day life and prefer to keep my routine than change it in order to fast long fasts.
Do you chew gums when fasting? Could be helpful perhaps for the breath? A super intense mouthwash perhaps?Wow, so you've been onto fasting for quite long! That's impressive. PopFnordette - I chew gum before jo b interviews or small meetings a work, where I know I'll be close enough physically for others to notice. Put a piece in my mouth, give it no more than 10 chews, spit it out. I used to use Listerine mouth wash but I stopped because it makes the bad breath come back with a vengeance after a short while. Just bought some herbal stuff today, I'll see if that helps better and report.
FastingDrunk - haha, thanks! For proper fast breaking my preference is turkey throat broth along with the meat of the turkeys and some hard boiled eggs. I've experienced with various ways to break long fasts and that's what works best for me so far, as well as keeps me in ketosis.PopFnordette - I chew gum before jo b interviews or small meetings a work, where I know I'll be close enough physically for others to notice. I just consume coffee/splash heavy cream and sparkling water, and regular water of course. I couldn't do coke zero because anything sweet in my mouth creates an insulin response. Even artificial sweeteners too. I used to have an occasional diet coke when I first started fasting but I had to stop because it started to make a sweet craving for me.I just consume coffee/splash heavy cream and sparkling water, and regular water of course. I don't mess with Coke zero. Artificial sweeteners scare me. The same guy who brought you aspertame to market was the same guy who brought you the war in Iraq. Rumsfeld. Don't trust em as far as I can throw em. Studies indicate your body breaks down aspertame into methanol and formaldehyde. No thanks :)I don't mess with Coke zero. Artificial sweeteners scare me. I agree it is SO hard to talk to other people about it. I had to do my research for weeks before I could attempt an educated discussion with my husband. Once I got him squared away I made the mistake of discussing with my mom, never again! Some people need to have both an open mind and cognition skills both turned way up at the same time to before they can hear it. I feel if I could be more of a success story (say after a couple EFs hopefully) then people might be more open to the idea.I agree it is SO hard to talk to other people about it. @PopFnordette I heard it mentioned a few times on the fasting talk podcast. The way I understand it is that eating increases insulin response increases inflammation (autoimmune disease). So fasting should reduce insulin and inflammation. I'm missing a lot in that oversimplified statement but I hope that answers it.@PopFnordette I heard it mentioned a few times on the fasting talk podcast. Hope you'll kick the depressed feeling soon... I find fasting strangely gives me energy. Not really physically, but mentally. Good luck to you, I'm sure you'll feel better :)
I'm logging like crazy sorry about that.
Anyways I did fast for 18:30 hours, and then I ate lunch, and the cookies, and some more sugary carbs - in f...
