Fasting Logs

Made it past my dreaded 18 hour mark where I usually break and eat with my family. I instead had an epsom salt bath while my family ate dinner. Could smell the meat sauce. Won't think about it. My tongue and mouth are starting to taste icky.

Haaaa I did it. We are so in, this time! Today is day 2. Got all of today also scheduled out of the house. Still no dead kittens breath, but I expect that will come shortly. Gave myself an enema before sleep last night, ugh the smell.

Oddly, I feel like there currently is food in my stomach. As though I'm bloated after a heavy meal. Hope this feeling goes away soon, I hate it.

Today's stats:
Weight - 145.4 (-1.2kg from yesterday)
Glucose - 130 (not sure why this jumped so dramatically after a 24 hour fast)
BP - 144/78
HB - 89

Chest - 122 cm (-1 from yesterday)
Waist - 112 cm (checked several times... Apparently I lot 4 cm's overnight there. This is so weird. I was hoping for 1, not expecting 4 in a day)
Hips - 136 cm (this is +3 to yesterday... I guess I measured in another place, but I couldn't find a spot that was close to yesterday's measurement. Very weird. Have paid more attention so next time I stick to the same spot).
Today is day one of an extended water fast for me! I first started seriously toying with the idea a few months ago, have done a few 1-2 day fasts, but this time I'd like to see how long I can go, because I hear that the worst of the downsides ends by day four or five, and a lot of benefits occur after that (beyond weight loss; I hear that cell turnover and repair become more intense by the tenth day.)

I didn't do any prep for this; ate like crap and finished a beer at 11:59 p.m. last night. But it seems like the perfect time because I have a long weekend to settle in, and what is really going on in September? Not to get ahead of myself, but it's the best month to "sacrifice" socially and gastronomically (in my personal opinion). I already had a frozen pumpkin spiced latte last week, so I think I can hold out until Halloween season and be an awesome DD for the next few weeks.

The other thing I'm considering is transitioning back to a mainly vegan lifestyle when this is over. That means that I can indulge myself looking at food stuff to prepare my plan of attack post-fast. Maybe I will make this a yearly thing! Not
Because I've slid back, but because the benefits are supposed to be so good for you.

I'm also toying with the idea of very low intensity cardio and sauna throughout this process. If anyone has recommendations, I would love to have them.

So right now I'm about 16-16:30 hours into current fast, which I plan to continue to 18-19 hours.

However I'm at work and currently attending a long meeting where we were served cookies and sandwiches. The cookies looked good. I took some, to eat later. They still look good - I'm looking at them, they're looking at me, the cookies and I just sitting at the meeting. 2 hours to go staring at cookies.

I love cookies. This is a challenging lesson in self restraint.

Hi, I am 22 hours into a 90 hour fast. This is my 3rd attempt to get to 90, the first being 50 and the second being 32. I am fasting for weight loss and health. Currently I am 159 lbs.

I need accountability. Today I'm 133 lbs and this is my highest weight in two years. I usually hover in the early 120's and I look good and can wear whatever I want. All my clothes are tight right now and I refuse to buy bigger clothes so I'm trying my longest fast. I've done intermittent fasting on and off for probably five years, before I even knew about it. In high school I would not eat breakfast and skip lunch so I did OMAD for almost a year and lost a bunch of weight. My longest water only fast is five days.

I technically started August 31st at 7 pm. So I've already been fasting for 30 hours. I'm leaving for Europe on September 15th so I'm not sure if I should keep my fast going until the day I leave or break it a few days earlier around the 12th of Sept. advice would be appreciated. Hoping to get back to at least 123 pounds and have my tight jeans fit me again. :)

So 9/2- 11 am:
Hello! My name is Nick and I've been adamant about intermittent fasting for close to four years now. Back in 2013 I was introduced to the Paleo diet, which I eagerly adopted because meat, fat, and veggies are my favorite food groups. Over the course of eight months, I lost nearly eighty pounds. My starting weight was >230 (I stopped weighing myself at 230, so I never really knew what my true starting weight was) and by the end of eight months I weighed 150 pounds.

Over the course of the next few years, after my initial eighty pound weight loss, I would struggle with staying on the Paleo wagon due to social obligations and attending culinary school. I now weigh 175, twenty-five pounds heavier than my lowest weight, however it is hard for me to say how much of that is actually fat because I was working out quite consistently as well.

Nevertheless, throughout the entire four years, I was intermittent fasting. I typically do at least 16 hour fasts. On busier days, it's not unusual for me to fast for 20 hours. I eat two meals a day, sleep eight hours a night, and drink boatloads of water.

Today I fasted for 19 hours.

I've been doing 20:4 and 16:8 for the past 2.5 weeks, and am working my way up to longer fasts. This is all pretty new to me, and so I'm definitely here to learn and keep momentum going. I used to get hungry and "punchy" often (confused, irratible, irrational) and eat often, actually overeat often. One thing I truly don't miss is feeling the overwhelming *need* (however real or not it may be) to eat, constantly.
This still new experience has been incredibly transformative already, my mind feels so much clearer - it's astounding. I don't feel cravings (sugar especially, but also those stupid particular cravings for one kind of junky meal that isn't true hunger). I've lost about 10 lbs too (started 100lbs over weight, so have it to lose). No one I know irl is doing anything like this, so I'm really excited about this group for accountability and maintaining and motivating and inspiration and support etc.

Each week I'm fasting from Sunday after supper (so from about 8/9pm) to Tuesday supper (about 6pm).

It's very manageable. So far I haven't hit the headache stage or the ketosis stage, since that usually takes me at least three days.

I'm also skipping breakfasts the rest of the week, and Wed/Thurs lunches where possible. If I do get lunch, it's salad or sashimi.
