Day 5 from Nessaroze's log

Another emotional day yesterday. I really wish that bit would already pass, since it's keeping me from being productive as I need to be.

Yesterday was hard too. I wasn't hungry, but I kept wanting to vomit because of the dead kittens breath. I don't understand why it gets so bad. I also STILL have bowel movements, so I'm currently probably sitting with the last mug of coffee I'll have during this fast. I just needed something to get rid of the breath that even brushing my teeth didn't work.

I'll probably swap for hot water with lemon/ginger. A few pieces of that, that I don't eat, end up going a long way.

My mom yesterday asked me to break my fast a few days ahead of the Rosh Ha Shana dinner because it would break her heart to see me just sitting there not eating. I told her I'd think about it. It's still two and a half weeks away. I figure, if I break my fast before then, it won't be a problem, but if I'll still be fasting, I wouldn't want to break it over something like that. Maybe I could ask or make vegetable soup and just drink the broth of it like soup so it looks like I'm actively participating or something.

My dad noted that the weight loss is already visible on me. I'm not sure why, because 3-4kg is really nothing to write home about when you have about 70kg to lose, and while the waist measurements are indeed impressive, it's not even the tip of the iceberg in terms of what needs to go.

Anyway, enough rambling for now.

Stats:
Weight - 135.6kg (-0.7 from yesterday)
Glucose - 101
BP - 131/79
HB - 90

Measurements:
Chest - 121 cm (-1)
Waist - 110 (-1)
Hips - 134 (-1)

Your parents sound kind of supportive; well, at least not completely appalled by the idea of fasting, as mine probably would be if I told them I eat pretty much just one meal a day. And they also notice your losing inches, although you may not notice I think it's good to get reassurance from others that some progress is being made, even if it's small and still far away from the end goal. It's steps in the right direction, still.
How long are you planning this current fast to last?

My dad is the person who introduced me to fasting. I was 15 and suffering from a PCOS mega weight gain, and he'd been battling with weight issues ever since one of his disks snapped, so we went together to a workshop that encouraged fasting to lose weight.

I want to do 7 days minimum, and then take it day by day. Ideally, I'd be uber happy to hit 40 or 60 days, but I keep in mind that my longest ever had been 22 days and I'm trying to take care of myself rather than break goals for my ego.

Wow, so you've been onto fasting for quite long! That's impressive. My longest fast ever was 7 days a few years back but I found I couldn't fit extended fasting with my day-to-day life and prefer to keep my routine than change it in order to fast long fasts.
Do you chew gums when fasting? Could be helpful perhaps for the breath? A super intense mouthwash perhaps?

PopFnordette - I chew gum before jo b interviews or small meetings a work, where I know I'll be close enough physically for others to notice. Put a piece in my mouth, give it no more than 10 chews, spit it out. I used to use Listerine mouth wash but I stopped because it makes the bad breath come back with a vengeance after a short while. Just bought some herbal stuff today, I'll see if that helps better and report.

FastingDrunk - haha, thanks! For proper fast breaking my preference is turkey throat broth along with the meat of the turkeys and some hard boiled eggs. I've experienced with various ways to break long fasts and that's what works best for me so far, as well as keeps me in ketosis.
